University of Northern Iowa was under lockdown Today. Police arrested a suspect who allegedly threatened to confront a female student with a gun in yet another example of the failings of the second Amendment.
The female resident allegedly received several threatening text messages from a possible gunman, FOX News reports.
By early evening authorities announced that the building had been "secured" but would not say whether a weapon was found.
The school issued its first-ever UNI Alert to the entire campus when they locked down Dancer Hall and asked people to stay away from the Dancer-Bender hall complex, the school's Web site reported.
All entrances to Dancer Hall were being protected by Cedar Falls and campus police. No one has been allowed to go in or out.
A pre-recorded message by the chief of campus police and a text alert were sent to students' phones alerting them to the lockdown the Des Moines Register reported. An e-mail was also sent.
The university also advised students to stay away from Bender Hall and Towers Center.
