UCLA Medical staff in more hot water over the release of Farrah Fawcett's Medical Records to Media Scum

Another employee at the UCLA Medical Center has learned that patient privacy is not just a story, after medical details upon actress Farrah Fawcett’s condition were disclosed to the media. The incident comes only a few weeks after other 13 employees at the same medical center were disciplined for snooping in Britney Spears’ medical records.

According to UCLA spokeswoman Roxanne Moster, the hospital executives were reported by a doctor to whom Fawcett had spoken that someone in the hospital staff revealed private information regarding her condition.

Fawcett's attorney, Kim Swartz explained how the news about the TV star’s recurring cancer leaked to the National Enquirer: an employee peeked into Fawcett’s medical records without being authorized and then told the tabloid publication. The news took the actress’ family and friends by surprise, as she couldn’t get a chance to announce them.

The “Charlie’s Angels” star was declared completely cured of cancer in February 2007, but the disease reappeared in a few months. It was in May that she complained to a UCLA doctor about her privacy breach.

The 61-year old TV icon is being treated for cancer in Germany at the present time.

A documentary about the celebrity and her struggle against cancer is being produced by Craig J. Nevius. He told the “Los Angeles Times” that she was optimistic about the cancer outcome. “"Farrah has learned the hard way that with cancer, the test is time. At the moment she has no detectable cancer,” Nevius added.

Reps for the UCLA Medical Center declined to reveal the disciplinary action taken against the privacy-breaching employee.
