Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz get married

If Ashlee Simpson's wedding is not happening at her parents' home, they were sure going out of their way to fake it Saturday.

A flurry of arrangements was apparent just outside the guarded gates of Joe Simpson's property, where all signs indicated that the pop singer's wedding to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz was imminent.

White shuttle vans with deeply tinted windows were streaming through the gates. Several delivery vehicles, including some marked as belonging to celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, arrived at the compound in Encino, a bedroom community in the San Fernando Valley.

Drivers of a few expensive cars who arrived at the guard tower were told to park elsewhere and take a shuttle. One was a well-dressed woman who arrived in an Audi packed with red boxes.

And of course, the paparazzi had been gathering before 3 p.m., lingering outside the property. Aerial photos posted online Friday on several celebrity Web sites purportedly showed an outcropping of large white party tents.

If there really was a wedding going down in Encino, the Simpsons sure picked a hot night to throw it: The temperature soared into the high 90s by late afternoon, and was only expected to fall into the mid-80s around sunset.

People.com reported Friday that Wentz and Simpson's father dined Thursday night at celebrity eatery Mr. Chow before the bachelor party. The Web site posted photos of the two emerging from the Beverly Hills restaurant.

Simpson's publicist declined to comment Friday on the couple's wedding plans, and did not immediately respond to additional attempts to reach her Saturday.

"This is a private matter," Rhett Usry said Friday in an e-mail to The AP. "There is nothing to confirm at this time." A representative for Fall Out Boy told the AP that she had no information.

Simpson, 23, and Wentz, 28, began dating in fall 2006 and announced their engagement April 9. Rumors that Simpson is pregnant soon followed, but the couple has denied that they are expecting a child.

Simpson, a singer, songwriter and actress, is the younger sister of pop star Jessica Simpson. Ashlee Simpson's latest album, "Bittersweet World," was released last month. It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in its first week, and tracks have logged more than 19 million plays on her MySpace page.
