A bus packed with Chinese tourists rolled on a highway near the Hoover Dam on Friday killing seven passengers and injuring 9, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman said. The spokesman, Lieutenant James Warriner, said six people were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident a few miles southeast of the Hoover Dam in northern Arizona.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Kingman, Arizona, and Las Vegas, in neighboring Nevada, where one passenger subsequently died. Warriner said the tour bus was returning to Las Vegas from a visit to the Grand Canyon on Friday afternoon when it crashed. "All we know is that the vehicle appeared to drift across the right hand side of the highway, then headed back to the center and rolled," he told Reuters by telephone. Warriner said police officers were working with Chinese consular officials to identify the dead and injured.
